Lia’s Wings Annual Golf Day

This year, we are “teeing off” with our first charity golf day, and we would love you to join us. Taking place at a fabulous venue in the heart of Northamptonshire, we hope the day will include plenty of excitement, entertainment, and a few eagles too!

A perfect opportunity to spend a day on the course, it will also be a fantastic opportunity to network with some of our like-minded supporters, hear more about Lia’s Wings’ work, and most importantly: help raise funds to cover the cost of our life-saving air ambulance flights.

What to Expect

Teams of four will compete in a round of scramble golf, with net scores (after handicaps) being used to crown our inaugural champions on the day. Registration opens at 8 am, with a Shotgun Start planned for 9 am, so there will be plenty of time to grab some breakfast, meet our friendly team, visit the pro shop, and warm up on the driving range before play gets underway.

For beginners: 

If you have ever wanted to try golf, but didn't know where to start, or if you simply fancy a more relaxed approach to a round, why not take part in our "Golf Academy" session on the day instead?

A perfect introduction to golf: each guest will get the benefit of a one-hour training session in Delapre Golf Centre's state-of-the-art driving range, accompanied by their PGA pros, with club hire included. The Pros will be on hand throughout to offer advice and support to get even total novices hitting the ball, and then will accompany you as you take on a round of Delapre's Par 3, 9 Hole Course.  

Guests joining us for the Golf Academy session will receive the full package for the day as offered to our Golfers, with the added benefit of prizes on offer for the best students, as well as an extra post-round cocktail thrown in for good measure! 

The Course

Delapre Golf Centre is one of the top-rated courses in the Midlands, offering a challenge for golfers of all abilities. “The Oaks” is an award-winning 18-hole, par 69 course, measuring 5,965 yards from the white tees. Wide fairways and drivable greens are tempered with a few tricky bunkers, and island par 3s: enticing golfers into the ultimate risk and reward shots!

Located just off the M1, it is easily found by road, or it can be reached in just under 10 minutes from Northampton Train Station, with a Hilton Hotel next door for guests looking to stay over.

Competitions and Fundraising on the day

It wouldn’t be a charity golf day without some fantastic fundraising ideas and fabulous prizes on offer. We would hate to disappoint! Competitions (for a donation) on the day will include:

• A Hole in One Challenge: with a £5,000 grand prize for anyone able to “ace” the par 3's.

• The Altior “Eagle Hunt”: Net the most eagles across the day to win a great prize...and bragging rights!

• “Long Drive” and “Nearest the Pin” competitions, on a state-of-the-art Top Tracer Range.

• And a “Golf Ball Raffle”: win great prizes, get free balls! Sounds like a win-win to us!
