My child is being flown within the UK by Lia’s Wings

Lia’s Wings is the only UK air ambulance charity that delivers life-saving services both in the UK and internationally. We help children reach the vital care they need and provide tailored support to families as they face difficult and uncertain times.
We are here for you and your family. Please get in touch:

Support we can provide
-
Aeromedical transfer - We provide a bed-to-bed air transfer service that is centred around your child's needs, with no break in their care. This may include an air ambulance with specialist equipment and a medical team or medical support on a commercial flight.
We work closely with NHS transport teams and our trusted UK air ambulance partners, which include Skycare Repatriation, IAS Medical, and GAMA Aviation. Every transfer is staffed by our specialist teams, experienced in caring for children with complex conditions.
Aeromedical transfers within the UK are free to families, funded entirely by our supporters. The average UK transfer costs £12,300. As the NHS has no dedicated budget for air transfers, they rely on us to provide this vital service.
-
Family support - We provide a dedicated Family Support Service to help you navigate incredibly difficult times. Every family referred to Lia’s Wings receives personalised support shaped around their own circumstances.
We’re here for as long as you need us. We often continue supporting families for months and years after their child’s air transfer. If there is something we cannot help with directly, we will connect you with an NHS service or one of our trusted partner charities, including Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, Ronald McDonald House Charities and SANDS.
If you feel you would benefit from extra support right now, please call Charlotte on 0300 140 9980.

About Lia's Wings
For over 15 years, Lia’s Wings has helped babies and children access specialist medical treatment and care when they need to travel between hospitals. While we work closely with the NHS, we operate independently and receive no government funding. Our flights are made possible entirely through the generosity of our supporters.
Frequently asked questions
“If someone were to ask me to sum up Lia’s Wings, I would say LIFE SAVING. After 21 months as an inpatient, we were finally allowed to bring Jackson home. Without a doubt, this would not have been possible without Lia’s Wings. They saved my son’s life and gave me my family back.”
- Debbie, Jackson's mum
