At just 14 months old, Abeerah has already faced more challenges than many do in a lifetime. She lives with several complex medical conditions, including drug-resistant epilepsy, dystonia, and requires tube feeding. Her day-to-day care is intricate, constant, and critical.
Abeerah and her dad were currently in the process of relocating from Croydon to Durham to begin a new chapter. But for children with complex medical needs, moving isn’t as simple as packing boxes. It takes careful planning to ensure that critical care is not disrupted, even for a moment.

To support this transition, we worked closely with EMBRACE, an NHS Transport Team, and IAS Medical, one of our key commercial operating partners, and arranged an air ambulance transfer to safely transfer Abeerah to a hospital closer to her new home. We also worked with the care team in Croydon and Durham to ensure a seamless handover of her care. This wasn’t just a flight. It was a bridge to stability, ensuring that Abeerah had continuous access to the expert care she needed during a major life change.

Thanks to Lia’s Wings, Abeerah and her dad are now settling into their new home in Durham and are being welcomed by new care teams who will continue to support her with their expertise.
We’re proud to walk alongside families like Abeerah’s to ensure every child has access to the vital care they need.
