Friends of the Schoennagel family, Van, Robyn, Sabine, Nat-Lucy, Diane and Pia, all took part in the ASICS London 10K to raise funds for Lia’s Wings in memory of Lia Schoennagel. Along with Lia’s mum, Melissa, who sadly couldn’t take part in the race, the team raised over £22,000 for our charity.
The team wanted to take on a local challenge to raise funds for Lia’s Wings. All living in London, they chose to take part in the ASICS London 10K that took place on Sunday 9th July 2023. The team enjoyed the route which takes you past Westminster Bridge, The London Eye, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Big Ben. Throughout the route they were encouraged by Patrick and Melissa who followed the team around the route, cheering them on and celebrating with them at the finish line.
The team received an outpouring of support which shows just how treasured Lia is. Their incredible fundraising total could fund:
· 2 life-changing Lia’s Wings air transfers
· 100 hours of family support both pre and post-Lia's Wings transfer.
· Flight training for two medical staff that qualifies them to work on Lia’s Wings transfers.
· 6 care packs for parents whose child needs a Lia's Wings transfer.
They have made an incredible, lasting contribution to our work.
We cannot thank them enough for your incredible support. Lia’s impact is just getting started. She is going to soar with us. We have no doubt she was with them every step of the way on the ASICS London 10K route and she is with us as our charity grows and reaches more children and families that need us.
