Milly’s holiday in Palma turned into a nightmare when she fell from a hotel balcony, suffering severe head and body trauma. Rushed to the hospital in critical condition, she was placed on life support and put into an induced coma. The family, devastated and overwhelmed, faced a terrifying situation, made worse by a language barrier that made even basic communication with hospital staff nearly impossible.
In just a few weeks, Milly had already undergone two brain surgeries. Her family, unprepared for such a catastrophic event, were further burdened by the fact they had no travel insurance to cover her mounting medical expenses. Desperate and unsure where to turn, they found hope when they heard about Lia’s Wings.
We stepped in to support Milly’s family during their time in Palma, providing both guidance and emotional support. We also arranged her air ambulance transfer back to Southampton Children’s Hospital, where she could receive specialist care closer to home.
Milly continues to receive ongoing treatment at Southampton Children’s Hospital and faces more surgeries, but the family are so relieved to be back in the UK and under NHS care. The weight of the medical bills was weighing heavily on the family. Now, they can focus on Milly’s recovery without that intense worry. We will stand by Milly and her family throughout her recovery, offering help for as long as they need us.
"I can’t thank you enough for your support. Your charity is one in a million."
- Damien, Milly's father
