Who we are
At Lia’s Wings, we do something no other UK charity does: we provide urgent air transfers by plane for babies and children, both within the UK and internationally.
Medical emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time, and no family expects to find themselves in urgent need of specialist care far from home. But when they do, especially overseas, Lia’s Wings is often their only lifeline. We ensure children can access the vital care they need.
Our service is unique:
Transferring children by plane means we can cover the whole UK and bring children home from overseas.
Adaptable aircraft allow us to tailor each flight to a child’s medical needs.
Medical escort flights give families a safe, lower-cost option when a child is stable but still requires professional care on their journey home.
Alongside our flights, we provide wraparound family support that is fully tailored to each family’s circumstances, just as our transfers are tailored to each child.
Why It Matters
Every child is different. Every family’s story is unique. We work closely with parents, hospitals, NHS transport teams, and insurers to make sure children can access the care they need, wherever they are.
For many families, we are their only option - a way forward when they have nowhere else to turn.
